ABOUT THE FILM
DEATH binds us. It’s the finish line to which we all race; a marathon
whose many detours define our DREAMS. You could be killed by television or a tuba; seduced or shackled. Even a game of CHESS can smear BLOOD on the board. In “The Dead and the Dreaming”, eight episodes of death answer QUESTIONS you’d never want to ask. Two
gunrunners argue death’s superiority to prison. Jake and Carl ARGUE
CANCER over death. “The Dead and the Dreaming” shows all perspectives, from the GRAVE, above and beyond. Death is never right,
wrong, or simple. A rainbow in the gloom LIGHTS a hitman finding the
morality in burial, a SERIAL KILLER obsessing over the photographer
who trails him, and two terminally ill men PLAYING a friendly game of Russian ROULETTE. Characters range from desperate to desperadoes.
Eight macabre vignettes, all exploiting the PRIVACY of our loneliest
secret: DEATH happens. Struggling with reality, “The Dead and the
Dreaming” presents its case in glorious black and white; MINGLED with
title cards and sometimes, French SUBTITLES.
We've all fallen in our
NIGHTMARES; "The Dead and the Dreaming"
reminds us to WAKE UP
before HITTING THE GROUND.
